The gen2050 steam academy

Based in Miami, Florida, the GEN2050 STEAM Academy is a Home Education Instructional Program serving homeschooled students in grades 6–12. We partner with parents and guardians to complement their students’ home education experience through meaningful academic instruction, enrichment opportunities, hands-on learning, and year-round programming.

GEN2050 STEAM Academy is designed to support students as they prepare for college, careers, and future leadership opportunities. Our program combines academic support with real-world learning experiences that help students develop the knowledge, skills, confidence, and independence needed for success beyond high school.

Students participate in collaborative, project-based STEAM learning that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Culture, and Mathematics. Program offerings may include academic tutoring, leadership development, environmental stewardship, entrepreneurship, career exploration, and opportunities to learn about college pathways and dual enrollment.

Through personalized academic support, hands-on projects, and team-based experiences, students are encouraged to strengthen their academic performance, discover their interests, develop practical skills, and take ownership of their educational journey. Our goal is to provide homeschool families with a supportive learning environment that extends and enriches education beyond the traditional classroom while helping students prepare for their next steps.

our mission

The GEN2050 STEAM Academy offers innovative STEAM-focused youth development programs for students in K through 12th grade. This year-round program engages students in intensive learning environments to inspire and prepare them for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Culture, and Mathematics) majors, entrepreneurship, self-leadership, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility.

Our vision

The GEN2050 STEAM Academy inspires and empowers youth to become exemplary world leaders.

our philosophy

Based on Dr. Linda P. Freeman’s doctoral research findings, developing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) sense of belonging begins in middle school. A STEM sense of belonging is defined as an individual’s perception that they are accepted, valued, and included in a STEM community. The GEN2050 STEAM Academy will incorporate these four STEM Sense of Belonging Development Themes from her research:

Theme 1: Learning by Doing

Hands-on, outdoor STEAM projects build student confidence.

Theme 2: Learning Together

Mentors and peers create a supportive community.

Theme 3: Building Inner Strength

Mindfulness practices and principles foster a STEM sense of belonging and psychosocial self-efficacy.

Theme 4: Seeing is Believing

Role models and subject-matter experts foster a STEM sense of belonging.

The GEN2050 STEAM Academy Difference

At GEN2050 STEAM Academy, we believe students learn best when they are actively engaged, supported by a community, and able to see how learning connects to their future. We go beyond traditional academic support by creating experiences that help students develop not only academic knowledge, but also confidence, curiosity, leadership, and a sense of belonging.

Learning by Doing

Students learn through hands-on, project-based experiences that connect academic concepts to real-world applications. From STEAM projects and environmental exploration to entrepreneurship and career-focused experiences, students have opportunities to apply what they are learning in meaningful ways.

 Learning Together

GEN2050 intentionally creates a collaborative learning community where students work alongside peers, mentors, educators, and professionals. Through teamwork and shared experiences, students develop communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills while building meaningful relationships.

Building Confidence & Self-Leadership

We recognize that academic success is strengthened when students believe in their ability to succeed. Our programming incorporates opportunities for reflection, mindfulness, goal-setting, leadership development, and personal growth to help students build confidence, resilience, independence, and psychosocial self-efficacy.

Academic + Enrichment in One Place

Students are exposed to mentors, subject-matter experts, entrepreneurs, college pathways, and professionals who help them envision possibilities for their own futures. By connecting students with people and experiences that reflect the many pathways available to them, we help transform “I could” into “I can.”

Preparing Students for What Comes Next

GEN2050 intentionally connects education to life beyond the classroom. Students explore college and career pathways, entrepreneurship, dual enrollment opportunities, environmental stewardship, and community leadership while developing the academic and practical skills needed for their next chapter.

A Sense of Belonging in STEM

We believe students are more likely to pursue and persist in STEM when they feel accepted, valued, capable, and included. GEN2050 intentionally builds a STEM sense of belonging by combining hands-on learning, supportive relationships, personal development, and exposure to diverse role models and real-world STEAM experiences.

The GEN2050 Difference is simple: We don't just teach students about possibilities; we create experiences that help them see themselves in those possibilities.

Our Academic Program

Our academic program operates on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during the school year, providing students with consistent opportunities for hands-on academic enrichment, project-based learning, and real-world exploration. Throughout the year, students may also participate in multi-day field intensives, experiential learning practicums, and specialized enrichment experiences.

During the summer, GEN2050 offers week-long summer camps and intensive practicums designed to provide deeper, immersive learning experiences. These programs give students the opportunity to explore their interests, develop practical skills, collaborate with peers, and apply what they learn in authentic settings.

Our flexible program model allows homeschool families to supplement their students’ education with engaging, purposeful, and supportive learning experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom.

This gives homeschooling families access to a structured educational environment on weekends while maintaining the flexibility and benefits of a home education pathway during the week days.

Our courses are available in person to all home education students with some hybrid learning activities.

Every lesson and activity at GEN2050 is intentionally designed with a purpose. We partner with local community organizations to connect academic instruction with life skills, hands-on learning, exploration, and authentic real-world experiences. By learning beyond the traditional classroom, students are able to apply concepts in meaningful ways while developing critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, confidence, and independence.
